Backstage Beauty Report - Kenzo

Greg Kessler

“She’s grown up a little bit,” said the hairstylist Anthony Turner backstage of the directive Carol Lim and Humberto Leon gave for this season’s Kenzo girl. “She’s met the man of her dreams — and he’s a rich man.” In contrast to last collection’s loose braids Coach Sale Online, this girl has hair that’s “the day-after-the-night-before,” meaning a mussed-up version of her date look that led to, well, spending the night. “She had a little romp on the Upper East Side.” To create this effect Coach Sale Online, Turner used Tigi Catwalk Sessions Series Strong Mousse with a flat brush to blow-dry hair and then pull it into a tight, low ponytail, pinning the folded-over ends up and then destroying the look a little with his fingertips. Wet Look Gel was dabbed on messy ends and the hairline at the face so that when light hit it would look as though the girl had gotten caught in the rain on her way back downtown. For more grown-up makeup, Yadim used M.A.C. Black Track Fluid liner to draw a thick contour with a bit missing; he erased part of the end with the swipe of a wet Q-tip. On cheeks was Taupe creme blush and highlighter on all the planes of the face. Then there was what Yadim called “the surprise of the show” — a changing gradient of lipstick meant to match the clothes that show the girl within the different rooms of her new man’s pad. There was Coach Sale Online, appropriately, Sin, Dare You, Ruby Woo, Russian Red, So Chaud and Girl About Town mixed with Dare You.
